The Benld Obelisk
Standing 13 feet tall, two feet wide, and weighing approximately 1,500 pounds, the Benld Obelisk is a monument to hard work, forgotten tools, and the people who used them.
Built from an eclectic collection of old tools, machinery parts, gears, and found objects, nearly every piece once had another purpose. Together, they’ve been given a second life—creating something meant to outlast all of us.
The obelisk is a public art piece in Benld, Illinois, free for everyone to enjoy. It is not for sale, but commissions are welcome for those who simply can’t live without one of their own. Size and design will determine the price.
